Packed with omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, calcium, minerals and protein, this versatile dish can be used in hotpots, porridges, soups and many more.

Yields – 4 servings

Ingredients

  1. 600g of Iwashi fillets – gutted and deboned
  2. ½ tablespoon of sake
  3. 2 teaspoons of grated ginger
  4. 1 cup of chopped green onion stalks
  5. 1 egg white
  6. Potato starch
  7. Sea Salt

Steps

  1. Chop Iwashi fillets until it is a similar consistency to ground meat
  2. Combine with grated ginger, green onion stalks, sake and egg white in a bowl
  3. Season with sea salt
  4. Mix until it forms a slightly sticky paste
  5. Form into balls with moistened hands
  6. Lightly roll balls in potato starch and place them in a pot of simmering water
  7. Cook for 4-6 mins until they are firm and white on the outside
  8. Remove from pot and add to broth of choice (we especially like this for hotpot or with dashi broth) and bring to a boil

Make a big batch and freeze them ahead of time for lazy rainy day meal at home
